"I’m asked fairly often: ‘Are the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People still relevant today?’ And for that matter, ‘Will they be relevant ten, twenty, fifty, one hundred years from now?’ My answer: the greater the change and more difficult our challenges, the more relevant the habits become." –Stephen R. 7 Habits Introduction to Paradigms

The results we get in our lives depend on what we do. What we do depends on how we see the world around us. Therefore, if you want to change your habits, begin by changing your paradigms.

Habit 1: Be Proactive®

We are responsible for our own lives. Our behavior is a function of our own conscious choice, based on principles, rather than a product of our conditions, based on feelings. We have the responsibility to take initiative and make things happen.

Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind®

Begin every endeavor with clearly defined outcomes and determine our own purpose in life. As we climb the ladder of success, we should make sure it's leaning against the right wall.

Habit 3: Put First Things First®

Put First Things First is at the heart of effective self-management. It's the ability to organize our time around the most important things in our life. As we plan our time weekly, we focus on highest priorities and eliminate the unimportant.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win®

Win-win is a frame of mind and heart that seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. It's based on the paradigm that there's plenty for everybody—that one person's success is not achieved at the expense of others.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood®

Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood means we try to completely understand another person before presenting our own point of view. It means balancing courage and consideration and expressing our views with clarity and respect.

Habit 6: Synergize®

Synergy is the manifestation of all the other habits working together. It means collaborating to create 3rd Alternatives rather than settling for compromise. When we Synergize, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts with one plus one equals three or more.

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw®

Sharpen the Saw means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset we have: ourselves. It's about regularly renewing the four dimensions of our nature: body, mind, heart, and spirit.
